Week Ten wrap up

Under windy, summer conditions on the Front Nine course, the final week in the regular season of the 2010 of the Pease Women's League was played July 26 with the teams of captains of Kathy Scatamacchia and Meg Cloud securing victories.

Kathy Scatamacchia's Chick Pease cliched the regular season championship with a 56-52 victory over Kim Griffin's Team 1.  In the captain's match up Scatamacchia topped Griffin 12-6 and two other Chick Pease players won matches.  In the position 3 match, Linzee Mahar topped Sue Vedrani 13-5 and Carol Corriea defeated Zoe Ann Wyman 10-8 in the position 5 match up.  Two Team 1 players won their matches -- in the position 4 match, Beth MacDonald defeated Jen Fahey 12-6 and Joanne Bison beat Penny Walsh 12-6 in the position 6 match up.  In the position 2 duel, Cathy VanReenen of Team 1 and Gail McCarthy palyed to a 9-9 tie. With bonus points added, Chick Pease totaled 68 points and Team 1 had 64 and finished the regular season in fourth place.

Meg Cloud's Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team topped Kathy Vetter's "D" Kapitators 57-46.  In the captain's match up, Vetter and a sub for Cloud palyed toa a 9-9 draw.  Two Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy palyers had strong victories -- in the position 2 match up, Cheryl VanWert played the card and garnered 13 points while Dottie Atwood defeated Cynthia Rivers 15-3 in the position 6 match up.  Two "D" Kapitators won matches -- in the position 3 match, Ann Garland topped Jennifer Philbrick 14-4 and Marie Bodi beat Lauri Palladino 11-7 in the position 5 match up.  In the position 4 duel, Beth Goodsell of Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy and Deb Jackson tied 9-9.  With bonus points added, Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team totaled 67 points and finished in sixth place while the "D" Kapitators had 56 points and finished in second place.

Jann Gray's Swinging Seastah's and Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock played to a 54-54 tie.  In the captain's match up, Gray edged Flynn 10-8 and two other Swining Seastahs players also won.  In the position 3 match up, Barbara Golter defeated Susan Alex 15-3 and in the position 5 match, Lisa Ryan defeated Penny Hamilton 15-3.  These Girls Rock won two strong victories as Mary Hoyt defeated Mundy March 16-2 in the position 2 match and Jill Bevan topped Betsy Wittman 15-3 in the position 6 match up.  Bonnie Hatch of Swinging Seastahs and Sheila Francouer played to a 9-9 draw in the position 4 match.  With bonus points added, each team totaled 66 points as Swinging Seastahs finished in third place and These Girls Rock had a fifth palce regular season finish.

Individual honors.  Kathy Scatamacchia won the closest to the pin competition for psoitions 1-3 on Hole 3 (4'9").  Cynthia Rivers won honors for positions 4-6 on Hole 9 (7'7").  Mary Hoyt shot a 40 for low gross score honors and Lisa Ryan had the low net score of the day with a 27.  Hoyt also had most individual points of the day with 16.

First Round Playoff Preview.  On the Back Nine course, the playoffs begin Aug. 9 with third ranked Swinging Seastahs played sixth-ranked Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy and fourth-ranked Team 1 taking on fifth-ranked These Girls Rock.  Regular season champs Chick Pease and second ranked "D" Kapitators earned first round byes.

Week Nine wrap up

Jann Gray's Swinging Seastah's won the most team points of the day with a strong 59-49 victory over Kathy Scatamacchia's Chick Pease.  In the captain's match up, Gray defeated Scatamacchia 11-7 and two other Swinging Seastahs players also won.  Mindy March topped a sub for Gail McCarthy 14-4 in the position 2 duel and in the position 4 match, Bonnie Hatch beat Jen Fahey 12-6.  Three Chick Pease players scored victories.  In the position 3 match up, Linzee Mahar topped Barbara Golter 12-6, Carol Correia beat Lisa Ryan 10-8 in the position 5 match, and in the position 6 match up, Penny Walsh edged Betsy Whitman 10-8.  With bonus points added, Swinging Seastahs totaled 71 points and Chick Pease had 59 points for the day.

Kim Griffin's team 1 had a 58-50 victory over Katchy Vetter's "D" Kapitators.  Griffin and Vetter played to 9-9 draw in the captain's match up.  Two Team 1 players also had victories.  Sue Vedrani topped Ann Garland 10-8 in the position 3 match and Beth MacDonald had a strong 15-3 win over Beth Goodsell in the position 4 match.  Two players from the "D" Kapitators won.  Cathy Willard topped Cathy VanReenen 10-8 in the position 2 match and in the position 5 match up, Marie Bodi defeated Zoe Ann Wyman 11-7.  The position 6 match ended in a 9-9 draw between Cynthia Rivers of "D" Kapitators and a sub for Joanne Bison.  With bonus points added, Team 1 totaled 68 points and the "D" Kapitators had 62 points to move within 8 points of the top place in the standings.

Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock beat Meg Cloud's Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezyteam 57-51.  In the captain's match up, a sub for Flynn topped Cloud 10-8.  These Girls Rock were also led by Sheila Francouer who defeated Deb Jackson 11-7 in the position 4 match up and in the position 5 match, Penny Hamilton topped Lauri Palladino 13-5.  The Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team had three wins.  Cheryl VanWert defeated Mary Hoyt 11-7 in the position 2 match up, Jennifer Philbrick won the position 3 match 10-8 over Susan Alex, and in the position 6 match up, Dottie Atwood edged Jill Bevan 10-8.  With bonus points added, These Girls Rock totaled 67 points and easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy had 63 points for the day.

Individual honors.  Mindy March won the closest to the pin competition for positions 1-3 on Hole 7(25'2").  Penny Hamilton won honors for positions 4-6 on Hole 3 (23'5").  Jann Gray shot a 43 for low gross score honors and four players had a low net score of 33 -- Gray, Sue Vedrani, Beth MacDonald and Penny Hamilton.  MacDonald had 15 points for top individual honors of the day.

Week Ten Preview.  Playoff positioning will ba at stake in the final week of regular season matches for the Pease Women's league July 26.  The Front Nine course will be the location for matches between top-ranked Chick Pease and fourth place Team 1, second-ranked "D" Kapitators and sixth-ranked Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy, and third-ranked Swinging Seastahs against fifth-ranked These Girls Rock.

Week Eight wrap up

On the Back Nine course following an afternoon summer storm, the teams of captains Katchy Vetter, suzanne Flynn and Meg Cloud secured victories in eighth week of matches of the 2010 Pease Women's League on July 12.

Kathy Vetter's "D" Kaptitators won the most team points of the day and had a commanding 67-41 win over jann Gray's Swinging Seastahs.  In the captain's match up, Gray and Vetter played to a 9-9 draw.  Three "D" Kapitators had victories.  In the position 4 match, beth Goodsell beat Bonnie Hatch 10-8, Marie Bodi defeated Lisa Ryan 15-3 in the position 5 match up, and in the position 6 match, a sub for Cynthia Rivers had an 17-1 victory over Betsy Whitman.  Barbara Golter was the lone winner for Swinging Seastahs with an 11-7 win over Ann Garland in the position 3 match.  Mindy March of Swinging Seastahs and Cathy Willard played to a 9-9 draw in the position 2 duel.  With bonus points added, the "D" Kapitators totaled 77 points and moved into second place in the standings while Swining Seastahs had 51 for the day and dropped to third place.

Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock took the second took the second most team points of the day with a 58-50 victory over Kathy Scatamacchia's Chick Pease.  In the captain's match up, Flynn and Scatamacchia played to 9-9 draw but three players from These Girls Rock won matches.  In the position 2 duel, Mary Hoyt won 10-8 over a sub for Gail McCarthy, Penny Hamilton topped Carol Correia 11-7 for position 5 honors, and in the position 6 match up, Jill Bevan handily defeated penny Walsh 15-3.  Two Chick Pease players won matches -- in the position 3 match, Linzee Mahar topped Susan Alex 12-6 and Jen Fahey beat Sheila Francouer 11-7 in the position 4 match up.  With bonus points added, These Girls Rock totaled 70 points and Chick Pease had 60 points and retained its top spot in the standings.

In the closest match of the day, Meg Cloud's Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team beat Kim Griffin's Team 1 for the second time this season with a narrow 55-53 victory.  For easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy, Cloud beat Griffin 11-7 in the captain's match up and int he position 2 match, Cheryl VanWert topped cathy VanReenen 15-3.  Three Team 1 players secured victories -- Sue Vedrani topped Deb Jackson 12-6 in the position 4 match up; and in the position 6 showdown, Joanne Bison topped Dottie Atwood 12-6.  The position 5 match between Zoe Ann Wyman of Team 1 and Lauri Palladino ended in 9-9 draw.  With bonus points added, each team totaled 65 points for the day.

Individual honors.  Sue Vedrani won the closest to the pin competition for positions 1-3 on Hole 14 (21'9").  Dottie Atwood won honors for position 4-6 on Hole 16 (7'6").  Suzanne Flynn shot a 39 gross, Beth MacDonald captured low net with a 27.  Among league players, Cheryl VanWert, Jill Bevan, and Marie Bodi won 15 points each for top individual honors of the day.

Week Nine Preview.  With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Women's League plays next on July 19 on the Blue Course with matches between top-ranked Chick Pease and third place Swinging Seastahs, second ranked "D" Kapitators and fourth ranked Team 1, and fifth-ranked These Girls Rock against sixth-ranked Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy.

On the Front 9 course under humid, cloudy conditions, the teams of captains Jann Gray, Kathy Scatamacchia, and Kathy Vetter had strong victories in the seventh week of matches of the 2010 Pease Women's League on June 28.

In an exact point reversal from their week two showdown, Jann Gray's Swinging Seastahs (aka Team 3) won most team points of the day with a dominating 64-44 win over Kim Griffin's Team 1. 

In the captain's match up, Griffin and Gray played to a 9-9 draw but the Swinging Seastahs swept the other five matches.  In the position 2 match up, Mindy March topped Cathy VanReenen 12-6: in the position 3 match, Barbara Golter beat Sue Vedrani 11-7: Bonnie Hatch defeated Beth McDonald 11-7 in the position 4 match: Lisa Ryan bested Zoe Ann Wyman 10-8 in the position 5 match: and Betsy Wittman topped Joanne Bison 11-7 in the position 6 match up.  With bonus points added, Swinging Seastahs totaled 76 points and contiuned their climb up the leader board by moving into second place while Team 1 had 56 points and fell to fourth place.

Individual glory: Suzanne Flynn won one closest to the pin competition on Hole 9 while Bonnie Hatch won the other on Hole 3.  The "D" Kapitators had three players who garnered individual recognition -- Kathy Vetter shot 40 for low gross, Marie Bodi captured low net with a 27 and Beth Goodsell took most individual points of the day with 14.

Week Six wrap up

The Blue Course was the venue for sixth week of play in the 2010 Women's League on June 21.  The teams of captains Jann Gray, Kathy Scatamacchia and Suzanne Flynn secured victories under hot, summer conditions.

Jann Gray's Team 3 won the most points of the day for the second week in a row with a strong 67-41 victory over Meg Cloud's Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team. 

Gray beat Cloud 12-6 in the captain's match up while Cloud won the closest to the pin competition (for positions 1-3) on Hole 3.  Four other Team 3 players had strong victories.  In the position 2 match, Mindy March won 14-4 over Cheryl VanWert; Barbara Golter won 12-6 over Jennifer Philbrick in the position 3 match; Bonnie Hatch won the position 4 match 11-7 over Deb Jackson; and a substitute for Lisa ryan defeated Lauri Palladino 11-7.  Dottie Atwood won the only victory for Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy by topping Betsy Wittman 11-7 in the position 6 showdown.  With bonus points added, Team 3 totaled 77 points and moved into third place in the standings while Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team had 53 points for the day.

Kathy Scatamacchia's Chick Pease team strengthened their first place ranking with a commanding 63-45 victory over Kathy Vetter's "D" Kapitators. 

Vetter won the captain's match up by beating Scatamacchia 10-8 but the Chick Pease won three matches to secure their team victory.  The position 3 match Linzee Mahar winning 10-8 over Ann Garland (who secured low net score of the day with a 33); Jen Fahey won the most individual points of the day with a 17-1 victory over Beth Goodsell in the position 4 match up; and Penny Walsh had a 13-5 victory over Cynthia Rivers in the position 6 match.  The "D" Kapitators also had victories from Cathy Willard, who defeated Gail McCarthy 10-8 in the position 2 match up and Marie Bodi, who topped Carol Corriea 10-8 in the position 5 match.  With bonus points added, the Chick Pease had 75 points for the day and the "D" Kapitators totaled 57.

In a reversal from Week One showdown, Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock beat Kim Griffin's Team 1 57-51. 

In the captain's match up, Flynn won 10-8 over Kim Griffin who had a low gross score of the day with a 45. These Girls Rock also had victories in the position 2 match with mary Hoyt defeating Cathy VanReenen 11-8 and Sheila Francouer beating Beth MacDonald 11-7 in the position 4 match up.  Joanne Bisson defeated Jill Bevan 10-8 in the position 6 match for the only Team 1 victory.  Two matches ended in 9-9 draws -- Sue Vedrani of Team 1 and Susan Alex in the position 3 match and in the position 5 duel, Penny Hamilton of These Girls Rock and Zoe Ann Wyman.  Hamilton won the closest to the pins honors for positions 4-6 on hole 7.  With bonus points added, These Girls Rock had 69 points and Team 1 totaled 63.

The halfway point of the 2010 Pease Women's League was reached with the fifth week of matches on June 7. The teams of captains Jann Gray, Kathy Vetter, and Kim Griffin won victories to solidify their rankings.

Jann Gray's Team 3 won the most team points of the day with a strong 65-43 victory over Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock. In the captain's match up, Cloud topped Vetter 10-8 but the "D" Kapitators won four other matches. In the position 3 match, Ann Garland won the most individual points of the day with a 17-1 victory over a sub for Jennifer Philbrick; Beth Goodsell tied for a low net score (32) and defeated Deb Jackson 11-7 in the position 4 duel; Marie Bodi beat Lauri Palladino 10-8 over in the position 5 match up; and in the position 6 match, Cynthia Rivers defeated Dottie Atwood 10-8. Cheryl VanWert had the other Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy victory with a 10-8 win over Cathy Willard. With bonus points added, the "D" Kapitators had 76 points and moved within 3 points of second place,while Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team totaled 54 points and fell to fifth place.                                                        

In a showdown between the league's top two teams, Kim Griffin's Team 1 defeated Kathy Scatamacchia's Chick Pease 57-51.Griffin tied for low gross scoreof the day(41) and had one of the closest to the pin honorswhile winning the captain's match up 10-8 over Scatamacchia. Three other Team 1 players won matches--in the position 2 duel, Cathy VanReenen tied for low gross score of the day (41) in winning 13-5 over Gail McCarthy; Zoe Ann Wyman topped Carol Correia 11-7 in the position 5 match up; and Joanne Bison beat Penny Walsh 10-8 in the position 6 match.Two Chick Pease players won matches-- in the position 3 match, Linzee Mahar topped Sue Vedrani 10-8 and Jen Fahey beat a sub for Beth MacDonald 13-5 in the position 4 match. With bonus points added, Team1 totaled 67 points and kept its second place position and the Chick Pease had 58 points while retaining its top slot in the standings by 9 points.

Week Three wrap up

On the Blue course under sunny and breezy conditons, the teams of captains Kathy Scatamacchia, Kathy Vetter and Meg Cloud secured victories in third week matches of the 2010 Pease Women's League on May 17.

Kathy Scatamacchia's Team 6 took the most team points of the third week and jumped to the top of the standings with a strong 73-35 victory Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock.  In the captain's match up, Scatamacchia won 12-6 over a sub for Flynn and Team 6 players won every other match for a clean sweep.  In the position 3 match Lizee Mahar took the most individual points of the day in beating Susan Alex 17-1.  In the position 2 duel, a sub for Gail McCarthy topped Mary Hoyt 12-6 and Jen Fahey Beat Sheila Franceur 10-8 in the position 4 match up.  Carol Corriea beat Penny Hamilton 12-6 in for position 5 honors and in the position 6 match up, a sub for Penny Walsh bested Jill Bevan 10-8.  With bonus points added, Team 6 totaled 81 points and These Girls Rock had 45.

Kathy Vetter's "D" Kapitators had 60-48 win over Jann Gray's Team 3. In the captains's match, Vetter topped Gray 12-6 and three "D" Kapitators joined Vetter in the victory column.  In the position 4 match, Beth Goodsell beat Bonnie Hatch 10-8, Marie Bodi defeated Lisa Ryan 11-7 in the position 5 match up and in position 6, Cynthia Rivers had an 11-7 victory over Betsy Whitman.  Two Team 3 players 10-8 matches -- Mindy March over Cathy Willard in the position 2 duel and Barbara Golter over Ann Garland in the position 3 match.  With bonus points added, the "D" Kapitators totaled 72 and Team 3 had 60 total points for the day.

Meg Cloud's Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team beat Kim Griffin's Team 1 60-48.  While Griffin beat Cloud 11-7 in the captain's match up, three Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy teammates posted strong victories -- Cheryl VanWert topped Cathy VanReenen 12-6 in the position 2 match, Deb Jackson won 14-4 over Beth MacDonald in the position 4 duel and Dottie Atwood defeated Joanne Bison 13-5 in the position 6 match up.  Two Team 1 players secured victories -- Sue Vedrani topped Jennifer Philbrick 12-6 in the position 3 match and Zoe Ann Wyman defeated Lauri Palladino 10-8 in the position 5 match up.  With bonus points added, the Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team had 72 points and Team 1 totaled 60 points.

Kathy Scatamacchia's Team 6 took the second most team points of the night with a strong 61-47 victory over Meg Cloud's Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team.  Cloud won 11-7 over a sub for Scatamacchia in the captain's position match up.  Team 6 players won four other matches -- in the position 2 duel, Gail McCarthy topped Cheryl VanWert 11-7, Linzee Mahar beat Jennifer Philbrick 13-5 in the position 3 match up, Carol Correia defeated Lauri Palladino 11-7 in the position 5 match up and Penny Walsh topped Dottie Atwood 10-8 in the position 6 match.  Deb Jackson of Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy and Jen Fahey battled to a 9-9 draw in the position 4 match.  With bonus points added, Team 6 totaled 66 points, moving into second place in league standings, and the Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team had 53.

Kathy Vetter's "D" Kapitators defeated Suzanne Flynn's These Girls Rock 56 to 52.  In the captain's match Flynn and Vetter played to a 9-9 draw.  Three "D" Kapitators won matches -- in the position 2 match, Cathy Willard defeated Mary Hoyt 11-7, Ann Garland beat Susan ALex 12-6 in the position 3 match and in the position 5 showdown, Marie Bodi topped Penny Hamilton 11-7.  Jill Bevan helped These Girls Rock and garnered the most individual points of the day with a 14-4 victory over Cynthia Rivers in the position 6 match, Sheila Farncouer of These Girls Rock and Beth Goodsell played to a 9-9 tie.  With bonus points added, the :D: Kapitators totaled 62 and These Girls Rock had 58.

Week One wrap up

The teams of captains Jann Gray and Kim Griffin led the way with victories in the opening matches of the 2010 Pease Women's League on May 3.

Jann Gray's Team 3 garnered the most team points in the first week of league action by defeating Meg Cloud's Team 4 (aka Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy) by a 57 to 51 point total.  Gray beat cloud 10-8 in the captain's match up and three other Team 3 players won their matches. In the position 2 macth, Mindy march toed for the top individual point total honors of the day by winning 13-5 over Cheryl Van Wert; Barbara Golter won 10-8 over Jennifer Philbrick in the position 3 match; and Bonnie Hatch won the position 4 match 10-8 over a substitute for Deb Jackson.  Two Team 4 players won matches: Lauri Palladino took position 5 match by a 12-6 score over Lisa Ryan and Dottie Atwood scored a 10-8 victory over Betsy Wittman in the position 6 showdown.  With bonus points added, Team 3 totaled 63 points and the Easy Pease-E Lemon Squeezy team had 56.

Kim Griffin's Team 1 secured the second most team points of the day in a close 55-53 win over Suzanne Flynn's team 2 (aka These Girls Rock).  In the captain's match up, Griffin beat Flynn 11-7.  Two other Team 1 victories were Sue Vedrani defeating Susan Alex 12-6 in the position 3 match and Zoe Ann Wyman besting Penny Hamilton 10-8 in the position 5 match.  These Girls Rock were led by Mary Hoyt who defeated Cathy VanReenen 12-6 in the position 2 match and in the position 6 match, Jill Bevan defeated Joanne Bisson 11-7.  The position 4 match ended in a 9-9 draw between Beth MacDonald of Team 1 and Sheila Francouer.  With bonus points added, Team 1 totaled 61 and These Girls Rock had 59.

The matches between Kathy Vetter's Team 5 (aka "D" Kapitators) and Kathy Scatamacchia's Team 6 ended in 54-54 tie.  Vetter won the captain's match up by beating Scatamaccia 14-4.  The position 2 encounter ended in 9-9 tie between Gail McCarthy of Team 6 and Cathy WIllard.  The "D" Kapitators had three players win matches by identical 10-8 scores -- Ann Garland beat Linzee Mahar 10- 8 in position 3 match, Beth Goodsell defeated Jen Fahey 10-8 in the position 4 match up, and Marie Bodi topped Carl Correia 10-8 in position 5 match.  Penny Walsh helped her team salvage a draw and she tied for top individual point total honors of the day with a 13-5 victory over Cynthia Rivers in the position 6 match.  With bonus points added, both teams totaled 60 points for the day.

 

If you’re looking for a weekly organized league then you’re in the right spot. The 2010 Women’s Golf League is open to any female that holds a USGA GHIN card through Pease Golf Course. League captains will pick teams Monday April 12th.  On Monday April 19, there is a meet your team, rules and format night with a catered meal by Gallery Hatch Catering.  The league kicks off with a captians pick format on April 26 with the first round of competition starting May 3rd. 

There will be a $135 registration fee which doesn't’t include USGA GHN card. The USGA ghin card is an additional $30. This fee includes weekly contests, kickoff dinner, and end of the year banquet. Participants that currently hold a USGA ghin card through Pease Golf Course will not be charged the handicap fee. A weekly green fee of $20 will be charged to all players that are not annual pass holders.

The format for the leagues is designed for all player levels. There are six teams of six. Two person 9-hole match play, two points per hole and one additional point for posting your score.

Participants are allowed two absentees per season.

For those wishing to play but cannot get into the league on a full time basis, we have a sub list. The subs pay a league fee of $10 per night, plus greens fee. Subs must also have GHIN card through Pease Golf Course. There are two tee times every league night for the subs to play.
